"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation" I Peter 1:15 September 5, 2010

WHAT IS A FREE WILL BAPTIST?

First,
we are BAPTIST in every sense of the word. If you were raised in a Baptist Church, you will feel right at home here:
-We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not of works.
-We major on Bible-preaching.
-we believe in the autonomy of the local church.
-we call our own Pastor, indefinitely.
-we are congregationally governed.
-we own our own facilities, disburse our own funds, choose our own missionaries.
-we are not controlled by any outside denominational headquarters in any way.
-Jesus is the Head of the church.

Yet, there are Two Differences from the mainstream Baptist Church
:

1-
Free Will Baptists hold to "Conditional Eternal Security."  Free Will Baptists believe in ‘saved by faith, kept by faith’. The believer is a child of God and destined for Heaven based upon the condition of continuing in the faith. This does not mean a person sins and thus accidentally loses his salvation. To forfeit salvation, one would have to cease to believe, and denounce his free will to follow Christ  (based on an interpretation of Hebrews 6:4-6). This is different in that most Baptist churches teach Unconditional Eternal Security of the believer, or "once saved - Always saved".

2-Free Will Baptists believe that Jesus intended for The Washing of the Saints Feet (John 13) to be a Church Ordinance, in addition to Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Thus, FWB hold to Three ordinances, where as most Baptist churches observe only two ordinances.
